No Swimming!

In 2018, the reality of being a Florida resident ran ashore because the seaweed precluded swimming. An online friend sent me the following information about the seaweed:

I’m from Montreal and I have vacationed in Florida many times, since the early 1980s. I never saw the beaches so badly invaded by Sargassum seaweed, before. This sargasso seaweed has always been out in the ocean and the currents kept them away from the shorelines. Christopher Columbus the explorer wrote about the sea of seaweed in his diaries as he approached the USA coast/Caribbean Sea.

It has always been there. Because our planet has heated up, the Sargassum bloom, grow, and expand like flowers and plants would do with extra heat from the sun. It has gotten bigger and covers a larger area. The ocean currents have shifted, carrying or pushing the seaweed close to the shorelines.

Yes, it is climate change!

The ocean water temperature has increased, making the Sargassum seaweed bloom and expand.

There is a lot of information on the web from scientists and marine researchers who blame climate change for the increase in the Sargasso Sea.

The only thing your body says when it encounters sargassum is, "No swimming!"

Jazz Ain't Nothin' But Soul by Norman Mapp

Jazz is makin' do with taters and grits Standing up each time you get hit Jazz ain't nothin' but soul From 1968 to 1970, I visited every jazz room in New York City. I went from Slug's in the Far East on 2nd Street between Avenues A and B all the way uptown to Club Baron and Small's Paradise. In the Village, I was at the Blue Note, Village Vanguard and Village Gate. Every Jazzmobile was on my list of things to do, whether it was in Queens, The Bronx, Manhattan or Brooklyn. The memory that has stayed with me throughout my Jazz Excursion is the song given to me on a lead sheet by the composer Norman Mapp who also wrote "Mr. Ugly" and "I Worry 'Bout You". This was in 1983, at Freddy's on the lower east side, when I was petitioning the manager for a night to bring my band there. Norman handed me the song, after we had a long discussion at the bar about my two mentors Betty "Bebop" Carter and Joe Lee Wilson . Both of them recorded an...

After the Ascension

Thursday, May 21, 2020, was the Ascension, the anniversary of the day the Risen Christ ascended into Heaven. This day marked the third month of a global crisis that ushered in the Restored Republic and the Revaluation Global Currency Reset (RV GCR). The transition from the USD to the USN is all but unknown to the common man. However, it has happened and we must be prepared for a new monetary system. What this means to you is that money is being moved in a digital form to be fairly distributed to every single person on the planet. All of your worldly wealth will be on a card that never depletes. There are several programs to explain exactly what is happening. This is a shortlist: https://inteldinarchronicles.blogspot.com/ https://cardengroup.org/ http://www.sovcpr.com/ As a professor, my favorite thing to say is "Do your research!"

Pandemic Projects

The past two years have been life-changing on so many levels. The COVID-19 pandemic left artists in a quandary. Earning became impossible, since restaurants, night clubs, theaters, concert halls, and most other venues where music is performed closed down for over a year. Some went out of business. So many musicians died. I counted many among the 55 departed souls that I knew, who are gone. Good things happened and I keep my eyes on the prize. To tell the stories of innovative musicwomen and musicmen, we published two annual issues each of Musicman and Musicwoman Magazines. www.musicwomanmagazine.com - www.musicmanmagazine.com         www.wijsf.org
